1995: Gundi Berghold
During her residency in 1995 Gundi Berghold continued her efforts to find an interface between the "object"-ive reality of iron sculpture and the transient nature of a video image. She considered several different strategies for presenting this dichotomy in the context of UMAS's facilities. Her final work for the exhibition included 25 drawings which traced her different approaches to this combination of media, and Vegetabile Formen, a two-piece video sculpture made of cast iron rods with built-in monitors. The virtual video image is an opening and closing circle that lights up the monitors at regular intervals and gives the impression of sending and receiving light or condensed energy.
